Rod of Asclepius with quartz
Rod encircled by a snake
The Rod of Asclepius is the symbol of physicians and pharmacists. It was originally carried by Asclepius or Asklepios, the god of healing in Greek mythology. He was raised by the wise centaur Chiron, who initiated him into the secrets of medicine.
In antiquity, snakes were associated with sharp-sightedness and – because they shed their skin – renewal. Medicines were also prepared from snake meat. For these reasons, snakes represented the healing arts.
Our ROD OF ASCLEPIUS ring is hand-crafted from solid sterling silver and oxidized to produce an antique finish. A crystal above the staff provides an accent.
The circle surrounding the staff measures approximately 16mm. Available in men’s sizes.
